Colorado, Manitou Cliff Dwellings continued

During the summer months you and your family can watch live presentations of the dances and ceremonies attributed to the Anasazi people. The music and dance are authentic examples of the kind of activities that occurred hundreds of years ago in this community. The traditional dress and colorful fabrics are worn by dancers who are descendents of the areas original inhabitants.

The ceremonial costumes and majestic feathered head dresses are a striking contrast to the earth and stone walls of the dwellings.

Through the dance, the narratives, the music and the drumming the dancers tell us the story of their ancestors. Some of the dancers are following four generations of participation in sharing their culture with visitors to the Cliff Dwellings.

Manitou Springs is located just outside Colorado Springs and the Manitou Cliff Dwellings are located in the same area as Cave of the Winds and Garden of the Gods. The Cliff Dwellings are easy to reach and worth a visit – particularly the museum. The museum building itself was constructed in the architectural style of the Pueblo Indians – descendants of the Anasazi – and is beautiful as well as educational. For Information Contact:
