La Costa Resort and Spa, Carlsbad, CA.
La Costa Resort and Spa is internationally recognized as a premier luxury resort. The Resort boasts world-class golf on two PGA championship courses, a renowned Racquet Club featuring 21 courts with three playing surfaces, and, the award-winning La Costa Spa. In addition to all this, it is located close to San Diego Zoo, Sea World, and LegoLand and offers a wonderful children's program at Camp La Costa 365 days a year. La Costa offers guestrooms, one, two and three-bedroom suites, and five exclusive private residences. There are three restaurants on the grounds and several heated swimming pools.
The La Costa Golf School, staffed with PGA instructors, is ranked among the finest in the country. The La Costa Tennis School is among the most renowned and respected instruction locations in the country.
We neither golfed nor played tennis while we were there, but we did visit the Spa. La Costa Spa offers Shiatsu, body scrubs, aromatherapy, facials, pedicures, manicures, mud wraps, massage, saunas, Swiss showers, Roman pools, nutrition counseling and more. Although the treatments were excellent, the facility is in need of renovation and redecorating. Since our stay I have heard that plans are underway for a complete Spa makeover.
Camp La Costa offers supervised children's activities year round. The Camp is located on a quiet cul de sac on Resort grounds across from a small playground. The building has a fun recreation room, a craft room and a video viewing area. There is also foosball, ping-pong and an outdoor tether ball game. We found the staff friendly and well trained. Our kids loved the variety of activities and made very imaginative crafts with fabric painting and clay. The camp has both half and full day programs. It even offers dinner, storytelling and films on Friday and Saturday evenings so that Mom and Dad can enjoy a "parent's night out".
We enjoyed La Costa Resort and Spa and highly recommend it. Check them out at www.lacosta.com. Ask about the upcoming renovations.
