Over the past 10 years, Common Ground programs have inspired life-long learning and lasting relationships for hundreds of families. We’ve done this by providing a unique week-long family camp experience grounded in the principles of respect, inclusion and cooperation. The kind of community we generate at camp is a living example of the world we want to live in.
Camp Common Ground offers week-long intergenerational summer programs for families of all shapes and sizes in a gorgeous Vermont mountain valley. Our programs provide the gift of time – time to dance, paint, sing and eat meals together, to learn about each other, share our hopes and dreams, discover the natural world around us, experiment with creative outlets, develop relationships with other families that often last many years, even a lifetime.
Come experience our inspirational programming and delicious vegetarian meals. In the mornings, explore your own creativity while your kids enjoy our fabulous children's programming. Our afternoons and evenings are for multi-age community programs. Yoga, art, music, dance and more.
“We love the sense of ‘family centeredness’ we find at Camp Common Ground, the sense of community, of nurturing of both children and adults. At CCG there are thoughtful individuals and caring family milieu. It’s a little bit of heaven right here on Earth.” – Maureen Kahn, Collegeville, PA

The Lair of the Golden Bear
The Lair of the Golden Bear, established in 1949, is the UC Berkeley Alumni Association's summer family camp providing lodging, meals and loads of fun activities (hiking, softball, tennis, music, pottery and lanyard making, to name just a few) for adults and kids to enjoy throughout each camping week. Over 9000 people camp at the Lair during the camping season. About 140 outstanding staff members (mostly current UC students) see that the camp runs efficiently and that the campers enjoy themselves. The Lair consists of 3 camps--Blue, Gold and Oski- and covers 100 acres in the beautiful Stanislaus National Forest near Pinecrest, CA. The three camps are very similar, but each has it's own Lair "flavor." There are two fantastic weeks towards the end of the summer that are devoted entirely to adults, and we now have 5 Family Camp weekends from the end of August through the end of September that provide campers with a small taste of Lair camping.
