The Cliff House (continued)
The Cliff House Resort & Spa on Bald Head Cliff in Ogunquit Maine is the oldest family owned and operated resort on the East Coast. Established in 1872 by the Weare family, the resort sits atop a 300 million year-old weathered, basalt cliff.
Nearby the resort are two of New England's newest golf courses. The Scottish design of The Links at Outlook in South Berwick, which opened in 2000, is true to golf's 500 year-old roots. The Ledges in York opened in 1999. It was named New England's best new public course by Golf Magazine.
The Cliff House offers spa, golf and sea kayaking packages. Three to Five Day Spa packages include lodging, breakfast, lobster dinner and spa certificate. The three-night Golf Vacation includes lodging, breakfast, lobster dinner and round of golf with cart at both golf courses. The Spa & Golf Combo adds a spa certificate. The three-night Sea-kayaking package includes lodging, breakfast, lobster dinner, and 1/2 day guided excursion with lunch. All packages include Maine sales tax and service charges. (Packages range in price from $364-$1097 per person double occupancy based on activity, room location and season.)
The Cliff House Resort & Spa has 194 guest rooms, dining room and banquet and conference facilities. A 151-seat amphitheater, fully wired for Internet access will open this September. Information is located on the Web at www.cliffhousemaine.com or by calling 207-361-1000.
