Colorado's 2003 Official State Vacation Guide (OSVG) is now available. The new guide has been expanded to include 10 additional pages and includes more photography than ever before.

The 180-page guide will have two seasonal covers - one for summer and another for winter - that reflect the theme: "The Four Seasons of Colorado Travel." Each cover features one large image depicting either summer or winter and a foldout page of smaller, vertical images illustrating the other three seasons.

The main image on the summer cover is a scenic photograph of Hunter-Fryingpan Wilderness near Aspen. The smaller images include: a rock climber at Governor Basin near Telluride (autumn); skiing at Silverton Mountain (winter); and a horseback rider in Crested Butte (spring). The winter cover boasts a large photo of the Telluride backcountry; a horseback rider in Crested Butte (spring); Governor Basin near Telluride (summer); and a golfer at Telluride (autumn).

Other enhancements to the 2003 OSVG include:
  • A "Traveler's Guide to Road Tripping Colorado"
  • A new RV & campground page
  • A new golf page
  • An expansion of several sections including:
    • Heritage and cultural tourism
    • Scenic byways
    • Winter and ski coverage
  • A new eight-page, seasonal photo essay
  • Nearly 100 pages on Colorado's seven travel regions
  • 135 Photographs from more than 25 photographers
"The OSVG is an extremely important resource for Colorado travelers," says Colorado Tourism Office (CTO) Board chair, Sarah MacQuiddy. "Expanding the guide to include more content and photography enables us to provide visitors with a more complete picture of what Colorado offers and the tools for creating a vacation tailored to their needs."

Checkmark/PDI - the company that manages the design and production of the OSVG, www.colorado.com and the state tourism fulfillment through 1-800-COLORADO - produced 550,000 copies of the guide for distribution. Through the team's efforts, the redesigned guide achieved record advertising sales in 2003 for the second year in a row.
