Horseback riding is the central attraction at the C Lazy U. Whether you are a beginning rider or an experienced rider, the wranglers at the ranch make sure that you have the horse that is right for you. The trail rides are spectacular. I don’t know if there’s a prettier place on earth. If you happen to have a passionate horse lover in your family they will be pleased to find out there are different riding programs to choose from including a horsemanship clinic. I can see this as a real benefit to the families who have a horse lover who wants to enjoy some serious horse time while their siblings enjoy other outdoor activities.

And when you are not out on a ride, you can lounge around the pool, go fishing, ride peddle-boats around the pond, enjoy a hike, or play tennis or golf. There are 4 golf courses in the area to choose from. As for fishing they told us we could fish in the pond at the ranch or go out with a professional guide to explore the streams and lakes not far from the ranch. While we were there we talked to people who had done some fly-fishing and they told us they were very pleased with their trip.

For families who are interested in going different directions to partake in the various outdoor activities, the ranch offers complimentary shuttle service for off-ranch activities. The shuttle service will take you to golf courses or to find great spots to go river rafting.

Food at the C Lazy U is fabulous and meals are rather formal. Families eat breakfast together and then the kids go off with their group to enjoy a variety of activities and eat lunch and dinner with a camp counselor. Parents are free to enjoy expertly prepared meals and have a chance to relax after an active day. Just imagine parents, a family vacation with time to have dinner with the one you love. Your kid’s are taken care of by the great staff at the ranch and you can enjoy your time reconnecting and getting to know each other again. All the while you will be savoring a deliciously prepared meal.

In the evenings, families participate in special activities such as fireside bingo, an ice cream social (my favorite!), square dancing and even a talent show.

We visited the ranch during the summer months but we were curious about what happens here during the winter time. When we read about the activities the ranch has to offer in the winter months my kids were eager to make plans for a return trip during winter break. The idea of snowshoeing, ice skating, sledding, tubing and cross-country skiing in this area sounded really appealing to all of us. There is even an opportunity to go for horseback rides in the snow. The ranch also hitches up their Belgian draft horse team for sleigh rides. A day of playing in the snow and then an evening relaxing by a fire, sounds like a wonderful plan for a winter vacation. This would be a great time to check into a deluxe suite that includes a fireplace and a whirlpool bathtub in the room. Now that would be a fabulous vacation treat!

The rooms at the C Lazy U are spacious and luxurious. When you call them the staff can tell you about the different lodging options they offer at the ranch. Prepare your children ahead of time that there are no TVs or telephones in the rooms. And you’re going to love it! It really helps you unwind and forget about the real world for awhile. The kids will be so busy they’ll never miss it.
