- Festivals and Concerts Fill Parks throughout the City -

New York City - Summer has arrived and music is in the air! All summer long, New York City will be hosting a myriad of free concerts and festivals for children and adults of all ages. Enjoy everything New York has to offer - from classical music and drama, to opera, dance and jazz - in some pretty spectacular settings. From May through Labor Day as Central Park celebrates their 150th Anniversary Central Park offers a rich assortment of concerts and musical events. The Central Park Conservancy hosts a number of free events including the Harlem Meer Performance Festival and The Naumburg Bandshell and Mall Concert Ground. The Great Lawn plays host to both the New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera; SummerStage, on the Rumsey Playfield offers a variety of jazz and multicultural performances throughout the summer. Over the last three decades, Lincoln Center has been home to New York City's largest and liveliest stage. Lincoln Center out of Doors is a free international summer festival that offers four weeks of vibrant music, dance and much more. Some 25 free outdoor performances in music, dance film and theater are also offered all summer in Brooklyn's Prospect Park. The city's longest-running free performing arts festival attracts top-notch acts from around the country and the world. Scheduled performers include Dance Brazil, Roseanne Cash, Grammy Award winner Erykah Badu, eclectic rappers Blackalicious and Irish-roots rockers The Saw Doctors. Fast becoming a New York tradition, every Monday evening starting June 23rd, enjoy free classic movies under the stars in Bryant Park. For more information, call 212-512-5700.

From Late July to early August, the renowned New York Philharmonic presents free evening concerts in parks throughout the city. This year, the eagerly anticipated annual event features music by beloved composers, including Mozart, Falla, Fauré, Tchaikovsky, Musorgsky, Ginastera, and Bernstein. Back for another summer filled with fun and excitement, The South Street Seaport Center Stage Concert Series takes place from June 23rd to August 30th. Be sure to check out www.southstreetseaport.com for a schedule of events.

From June 11th to the 29th, the Metropolitan Opera will perform La Boheme and The Barber of Seville in Central Park and other locations throughout the city. For more information check out www.metopera.org.
